Nordic Ware Pro Cast Multi Mini Bundt PanReviewsLove this pan for large size muffiins! Make sure you buy the spray oil with the flour and coat well, let them cool 10 minutes and turn out then you will have perfect muffins every time. I find that they make large muffins so hubby and I share one. I love this pan, but it never worked perfectly! I tried it twice, both times using Baker's Joy and most seem to pop out OK, but not perfect. There always seem to be something left in the pan. So I researching and reading some of the same comments regarding this pan, where someone wrote about not having their receipt for warranty claim. Well, I looked on my Amazon account for a 4 year-old receipt and sure enough, Amazon still had it on my account. I called Nordiware and they are going to exchange this one for one that has bigger individual mini cakes. We will see how well that works. Overall, I like Nordicware cake pans, but I am not that satisfied with these fancy, very detailed mini cast bundt pans. IT LOOKS GOOD, HAS SOME WEIGHT TO IT AND IT WORKS WELL. THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT. I love this pan! It makes great mini cakes for holiday giving or if you live alone, keep some out, and freeze the others! I myself own two of these pans and use it for a holiday pound cake that I make for gift giving! I am so sorry to say that I fell in love with this pan. I am a veteran baker, and have baked in regular bundt pans for decades with xlnt results. Trust that I know my way around a bundt! For some reason this pan worked early on. After that, everything would stick; from simple mini cinnamon bundt cakes to angel food. I always washed it by hand (which took forever after soaking) and there were no scratches. Whether I would grease it or grease & flour it or pam it to death, things would stick to the tiny ridges and the whole cake was impossible to exricate. It was a nightmare & I am extremely patient. I "stuck" with it for about 5 years. I am writing now bec I lost it with this last batch that left as much stuck to the pan as out. I didn't even bother cleaning it this time; it's in the trash. So sad too, it is just so adorable. Sorry to say something bad about Nordic Ware. Average Rating:![]() |

Schleich Smurfs Cottage, BlueReviewsThis cottage does not seem to have any problems mentioned in reviews for the larger size. All the pieces connect and it's fun. I got this cotage for my 4 yrs old daughter, and she plays with it all day, the roof dosent click toghether, but for playing is fine bacuse my daughter takes it off easy and put the smurfs inside and puts it back easy, I still have one from when I was little and its intact, after 20 years its like new, and I played with it also, so it is durable. Smurfs Cottage, Blue. Every Smurf needs a place to live. |

Schleich Smurfette's CottageReviewswould suggest this toy for older kids, the butterfly does not stay on, nor does the roof balance extremely well, and is too small for little hands to put smurfs into, or take them out of the cottage. cute, though, but would not have purchased if i knew exact dimensions, and how it is better suited for display than play. My girls wanted these for Christmas last year so bad and were so excited to open the sets we purchased for each one of them that morning. But, that was as far as the excitement lasted. They do not stay together at all. They are really meant to go up on a shelf, high away from children playing with them and just be looked at. If that is your purpose, then okay, but otherwise not a durable toy at all. Adorable. Top doe not click on, but that makes it easier to play with. Door is operable, which is nice. This Smurf village mushroom is perfect for a childs emagination.. safe, durable and creative. Can't seem to click the top on too tight, but it's nice how the frot door opens to put a Smurf inside. Miniature Food Masterclass: Materials and Techniques for Model-MakersReviewsAngie Scarr is an inspirational artesian who is passionate about modeling culinary art with polymer clay techniques in miniature. Her book is definatley a must have for any serious miniaturist who wants to add that special touch. I can't wait to get stuck in and make some of these tiny treats. It all looks so easy to make - I am impressed by the simple but detailed instructions. I own Angie Scarr's first book too, and prefer the first one to the 2nd one. The 2nd one feels a little rushed, and feels like as much data was crammed in there as possible, so the step by step tutorials aren't as thorough. Overall, though if you already have experience with canning it's a great resource and inspiration. It might just be a little tough for beginners to follow along. This book has the most original, fabulously illustrated photos and how to's. Love it! You will too! Kellie I was really impressed with the photographs and step-by-step instructions in this book. I've never worked with polymer clay before and felt that this book was very clearly written and easy to understand. Highly recommend it!! Average Rating:![]() |

Making Miniature Food and Market StallsReviewsAlthough I like the detail this book shows, it is not my favorite. I t not only looks old fashioned, but is geared more towards foods from the UK. We don't generally have tarts, black pudding and pork pies. I guess I should have looked more into it. Just not current and relevant enough for me. This is great for the polymer clay novice who likes to make miniatures. The simple methods and 'tools' found in the average home make it easy to duplicate Angie's finished products. There are only a few tools that need to be purchased from a craft store ,but even those can be improvised in a pinch for someone (like me) who doesn't have a big hobby budget. I particularly like the cakes and pastries but enjoyed making the fresh veggies and fruits ,too. For budget minded folks, you get very good instructions and lots of fun projects for a reasonable price. Great way to spend a rainy day and add to your dollhouse or miniatures collection. This book is fun and well done. It shows tons of photos and a good step by step procedure to make all kinds of miniature food. This book is fun for kids and adults. The products are very real looking and can be used along with other crafts or for "Barbie Food" I was very pleased with this book and would highly recommend it to others. I've been able to read newspapers since I was three, and this is one of my all-time favorite books, right beside childhood books like "The Mouse and the Motorcycle," "A bargain for Francis," and as a grown-up, Robert Bloch's "Psycho," (yes, where the movie came from--brilliant writing!!!)...Just flipping through this book is a complete rush. However, be fully ready to be buying a GREAT deal of polymer clay at $1.00 for the sucky, cheap kind (the colors aren't quite right, black is more grey, red is pink, so on) to $2.50 for the good stuff--PER PACKAGE. Skip it if you can't see the color through the plastic. If you can find this through the library, you'll see what I mean; there's lots of colors involved for most things. Also, buy 2x as much translucent, you'll be using it for nearly everything. It gives the food a very lifelike sort of look. Less "clay-like," if you will. Also, if you have a sensitive nose or asthma, please be aware this stuff stinks a bit while baking--I like a lot of air doing this and you can't place the unbaked clay on anything you eventually plan to eat on--use the backs of your cutting boards/baking sheets, and so on. I bake it at 250 degrees and I'm careful NOT to burn it--it's VERY toxic if you do; it says on some of the packages. It goes w/o saying that you want tight, surgical gloves to play with this stuff if you can find them--whatever you can't eat by proxy, you probably don't want on your skin; and eventually into your bloodstream. Gloves also help keep the clay clean; hard to do otherwise. For very small things, you can spray them with railroad hobby "Scenic Glue." It makes stuff shiny like varnish, AND it stays sticky, so tiny stuff won't roll onto the floor, never to be seen again. Also had good luck with spray varnish for tomatoes, which of course, dries glass-like and non-sticky. A very exciting book!! You'll love it. Seriously looking forward to her next book coming soon! I am an experienced miniaturist of many years, and I checked this book out at the public library first to see if I wanted to get it. I thought it was fantastic, so I bought it from Amazon. These foods are largely universal although the Englishness of a couple of them is interesting, like the pork pie. I appreciated the instructions on how to do polymer clay seafood (where else can you find directions on how to make a fish skeleton with a fishhead attached??), and I also liked the instructions on how to make mini dishware to go with the foods. Sweet Miniatures: The Art of Making Bite-Size DessertsReviewsLike other reviewers, I was so looking forward to getting this book. I was disappointed not to find photos of the final products. How are you supposed to know what it's suppoed to look like without a photo? I'll be reluctant to try some of these recipes because I don't want to waste my time on a disaster! I already had this book but gave it to my family in Thailand. They opened a bakery in Chiang Mai and when I visited last yearI brought my copy which they use. I bought this as a replacement because I think so highly of this book and all of Flo Braker's works. More pictures would have made this book great. Reading the recipes are one thing, but seeing how they are supposed to look as a final result would have been so helpful. I will be more reluctant to try many of the recipes because there were no pictures. You can see this is a lady that knows her stuff. I can recommend this book wholeheartedly. In today's market where everything is about doing something quickly, this is about doing something properly. I have learnt more from this book than 50 others. If you want to make little babycakes. you have to own it. Book covered the subject indicated in the index section on my preview before placing the order. However, I still cannot find in this book or any others purchased or reviewed a receipe for my grand-mother's Italian "cookies" or pastry she always prepared for her grandchildren during the Christmas Holidays. I know that it contained figs, currants, raisons and either pecans or walnuts all ground-up and inserted into a pastry shell like ravioli or cannoli before baked, then frosted. I and my sisters all remember eating the pastry but no one could find a receipe for this in all her kitchen belongs after she passed away. She always called it "cuccithaida"....but we guessed on the spelling of that Italian name she called that "cookie" when she served them. We are all Italian-Americans born and raised in the U.S., but our father did not know anything about his mother's cooking; just liked to eat the sweets too! Maybe someone in Amazon can locate this better than me. All of my ancestry came from Sicily when they immigrated to the US back in the early 1900s. Average Rating:![]() |
